Cookie policy
DealIndex doesn't show you a cookie banner because there is almost nothing to consent to. Here's the full list of what we set or store in your browser, and why.
First-party storage
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| dealindex_admin | HttpOnly cookie | Operator login session for /admin/* routes. Set only after the operator pastes the admin token. No bearing on regular visitors. | 7 days |
| dealindex:chat:v1 | localStorage | The on-site chat widget keeps your last 20 messages locally so you can resume a conversation without losing context. Cleared via "Clear" in the widget or by clearing site data. | Until cleared |
Third-party cookies
None on the DealIndex site itself. Plausible Analytics is cookieless. Sentry only fires on error and does not set tracking cookies. The AI-assistant endpoint doesn’t set browser cookies — it returns a JSON payload.
When you click an outbound link
Once you leave DealIndex via an affiliate link, the destination retailer (Amazon UK, Argos, John Lewis, etc.) sets their own cookies according to their own policies. The affiliate-tracking cookie set by Amazon Associates UK lasts 24 hours; Awin merchants vary between 7 and 30 days. We don't see these cookies — they live on the retailer's domain.
If we add anything new
If a future feature requires a cookie that needs consent (which we'd avoid where possible), a banner will appear before the cookie is set, with a clear opt-in.
